In the film Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino, there is little story revealed in the opening. There is only a group of guys at a diner talking as they finish eating. A dolly camera was mainly used throughout the scene. There were many close-ups as characters were talking and listening. The scene introduced all of the characters and their personalities. It can be inferred by the dialogue of the characters and the costumes, that they are most likely criminals. Their code-names are revealed, so that can narrow down the question of which side of the law these characters are on. The mise-en-scene is obvious to who the characters are but not what the plot of the film is about. There was a master shot including all of the characters walking in the parking lot. The budget was 1.2 million dollars. Props including sunglasses, a book, cigarettes, and dollar bills. The scene was filled with ambient sound to create the aesthetic that these characters are at a relaxed-diner setting. There was incidental music in the master shot along with the opening credits. The only jobs listed in the opening credits were the director and the actors. The film was nominated for and won awards from the Awards Circuit Community Awards: Best Original Screenplay, Best Motion Picture, and Best Director. The film also won a Bronze Horse at the Sundance Film Festival.
